What is Graston Technique?

Graston Technique® is an evidence-based form of Instrument-Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM). It allows our therapists to effectively detect and treat scar tissue and restrictions that affect normal function.

Unlike standard massage, which uses hands to compress muscle, Graston uses specialized stainless-steel instruments to "catch" and break up fibrotic tissue. This process creates a controlled micro-trauma that:

Breaks down scar tissue (adhesions).

Restarts the healing process (inflammation cascade).

Stimulates new collagen for stronger, more flexible tendons.

Does it hurt? While Graston is an intense therapy, it should not be unbearable. Most patients describe it as a "good hurt" that feels like it is finally scratching an itch deep inside the muscle.

Detecting & Treating Scar Tissue

Graston Technique allows us to detect "gritty" texture in your muscles and tendons this is scar tissue or fascial adhesions.

Using specialized instruments, we apply precise pressure to break down these restrictions. This triggers a localized healing response, stimulates new collagen production, and restores your range of motion.
